Land for wildlife

Land for Wildlife is a voluntary scheme to encourage and assist private landholders to provide habitat for wildlife in bushland on their property.

The program is the creation of the Department of Parks and Wildlife, with partner NRMWA who help participants manage their bushland for wildlife habitat. Together with South West Catchments Council and Geocatch, we will be revegetating one hectare of the wetland on our property in May 2020 with around 1,800 local provenance native plants.

The project will restore much of the wetland flora species cleared some decades ago for vegetable crops. In conjunction with the adjacent Parks and Wildlife wetland it will provide fauna habitat including the Western Ringtail possum.
